Old Spice Fiji Review

An Honest Review of Old Spice Fiji Deodorant

I’ve been on a quest to test every Old Spice Deodorant, Scent and body spray. I wrote a guide on my overall favorite old spice deodorants but today I’ll be writing my honest review on Old Spice’s Fiji Scent. I tested Old Spice’s Fiji scent for three weeks and feel I can give a good opinion on this deodorant and if it’s worth your money.

To get straight to the point Old Spice is a great deodorant brand in itself so I can’t exactly find any real faults on their deodorants. More or less it will come down to your favorite flavour of scents. All their deodorants manage very well to stop body odour and excessive amounts of sweating.

I found Old Spice Fiji to be a very effective antiperspirant deodorant with a unique scent and it’s only real fault is that it’s a little more expensive than regular deodorants.

What Does Old Spice Fiji Smell Like?

The fiji scent is infused with palm tree oil, lavender and coconut. Each of these have very distinct scents and when they’re all mixed together make a smell that’s very unique and great smelling. I found each morning it’s a nice surprise when you begin smelling that natural smelling infusion.

It definitely doesn’t smell artificial and the scent seems to have a natural aroma more than anything. It’s a stark difference to the smells most standard deodorants create and if you want something unique and tangy then choosing Old Spice Fiji is a good idea.

If you don’t like the smell of herbs, trees or coconuts I would stay away from fiji but otherwise it’s a great pick that smells fresh and clean.

How I Felt After Using Old Spice Fiji for three Weeks?

Overall I have no complaints, I really like that old spice is a vegan deodorant and animal friendly. They don’t do any forms of testing on animals and only test on paid human volunteers. For the more health conscious people out there, I am afraid that Old Spice does contain Aluminum Zirconium.

This makes it very effective at stopping sweat but there’s been some controversies about aluminum in deodorants so I thought it was best to be mentioned as I know some people wish to avoid this ingredient.

Although don’t freak out, there’s been no evidence found to be linked between the two and what does link them is very flimsy. If you want a chemical free deodorant old spice does provide natural deodorant alternatives although they won’t be as effective at preventing sweat and odour.

One other factor I liked was since Old Spice Fiji has such a unique fragrance you almost feel like you’re wearing some sort of cologne instead. It’s a lot different than your standard antiperspirant deodorant and the smell surprisingly stays with you for the entire day. If you really like the scent it comes in as a body spray as well that you can apply.

Does Fiji Cause Clothing Stains?

Many deodorants cause clothing stains in a variety of ways, I haven’t had this problem with any of the old spice’s deodorants including fiji. If this is something you’re worried about I don’t think it’s so common with old spice. Supposedly if you’re a very heavy sweater some yellow marks could appear over time around your underarms because you sweat will mix in with the aluminium. This is rare and I haven’t experienced any of these problems whilst using Fiji.

The Controversial Ingredients…

This point is for the health nuts because I know in the natural or organic communities deodorants carry with them quite a lot of controversies. People are becoming more weary on what’s going on their skin and I’m sure someone reading this is thinking about exactly this.

I’ve added the ingredient list below so you can see for yourself, but old spice Fiji definitely isn’t the most natural of deodorants. Firstly it contains aluminium, the links between aluminium within deodorant are flimsy to say the least and there has been no hard evidence to justify the outcry it’s received. I’ve writtena a guide on the best aluminum free deodorants if you it might interest you.

Secondly Old Spice Fiji contains alcohol, an ingredient that works very well for stopping sweat but again many people choose to avoid as they believe that we don’t know the long term effects of applying these to our skin. Here’a a review on the best alcohol free deodorant if you’re curious.

Lastly Old Spice Fiji contains talc, I’ve heard of some controversies but this one seems to be by far the safest of less natural ingredients. It has a long history in both food and beauty products and you really shouldn’t be concerned about some talc in your deodorant.

I state all these ingredients because I know some readers will want to avoid them and this is an honest review. Old Spice does produce more natural deodorants for the health nuts so if you still want to try out old spice but not risk the chemicals you’re in luck.

There’s also a version of fiji which is a deodorant that’s aluminium free.

Reconsider Old Spice if you have sensitive skin

For anyone who has suffered from sensitive skin it’s very important to triple check the ingredients you’re applying to your underarms. Old Spice commonly uses aluminium and alcohol, both of which are known for causing skin irritation and redness if you’re unfortunate enough to have sensitive skin. If you read some customer reviews on amazon they’re all very positive but every now and again there’s photo’s of inflamed armpits that have gone all red after applying old spice. Fiji contains alcohol and aluminium so avoid it if you’ve suffered skin irritations from deodorants in the past. Check out my guide on the best deodorants for sensitive skin.

If you’ve never experienced something like this you’re completely fine and there’s nothing to be worried about.

I definitely would use fiji again and recommend it to anyone who might be considering it, if I was making more money then this is close to being the perfect antiperspirant deodorant. It stops body odour and sweating, providing a unique smell that’s both fresh and natural. If you aren’t on too tight a budget try Old Spice Fiji and see what you make of it.

One thing to add is this flavour especially has overwhelmingly positive customer reviews and is definitely a good sign if you’re considering making a purchase, you’re better off buying in bulk simply because a single container I feel is a little too expensive even for such a high caliber of deodorant such as old spice. Either way it works well and you shouldn’t have any problems while using it.
