When it comes to the business of armpits, most of us share two fears in common: smell and pit stains.
The truth is, there are only a rare few people in this world that can get away without applying any deodorant.
But for the rest of us, the quest for that one deodorant that will finally solve our odor and stain issues without harming our armpits may seem like an impossible task.
Then, there’s Native. It is as effective as it is affordable, so it’s no surprise that this deodorant is making loud noises in the personal care aisle these days.
In a time when everyone is all about going natural, Native fits the description perfectly as it claims to be free from chemicals like aluminum and paraben. But does it really work?
Who makes Native deodorants?
Native, a San Francisco-based company believes that good personal care starts with the right ingredients.
It has created a wide range of all-natural products like the Native Bar Soap, Native Body Wash and of course, its famous line of Native deodorants that come in playful scents like Candy Cane and Pumpkin Spice.
Native takes pride in using only natural ingredients for its products, making them safe for even the most sensitive skin.
Are Native deodorants all natural?
The company behind the famous Native deodorant made it a mission to create a product that doesn’t contain the usual laundry list of chemicals that you’ll find in your typical deodorant.
Native takes pride in using only 14 natural ingredients for its deodorant that you can easily recognize and understand.
Native’s ingredient list includes shea butter and beeswax to leave your armpits moisturized, baking soda to address the odor, Vitamin E to tighten and firm the armpits, and coconut oil for additional moisture.
New-age ingredients like Acidophilus that’s a natural bacteria found in intestines and Arrowroot Powder derived from tropical plants are also added into the Native deodorant.
But more than its ingredients, Native takes pride in what it doesn’t contain. Native deodorant doesn’t contain any of the chemicals like aluminum, phthalates, parabens, and talc that other deodorants have.
This means that it’s completely safe for all skin types and will not have any harmful side effects.
Native admits that it hasn’t done any studies that link aluminum to certain health problems, which is why it doesn’t make any claims.
But the company is a strong proponent of using natural products, especially the body. Native’s Vice President for Marketing Meng Li said that “In general, there’s this concept of using this synthetic material to prevent your body from doing what it’s meant to do naturally.
It’s something, in general, that isn’t great.†Li also added that the baking soda found in Native deodorant might cause redness to the armpits at the beginning.
However, that will go away once the body adjusts to the baking soda.
Are Native deodorants antiperspirants?
Native makes it clear that its deodorant is not an antiperspirant because it doesn’t contain aluminum, which is usually found in antiperspirants.
But rather than preventing wetness, Native deodorant uses baking soda to absorb it while still doing the job of eliminating odor.
How long does it take for Native deodorant to work?
Meng Li explains that it may take up to 15 days to get the maximum effect of Native deodorant after switching from an antiperspirant: “When people are using antiperspirant and making the switch to a natural deodorant, what we’ll often hear from them is that they’ll feel extra wetness or it feels very different because of that process of not using aluminum.â€
This is because of the fact that aluminum present in antiperspirants blocks sweat ducts that may take as long as two weeks to unplug and adjust to the natural deodorant.
Is Native deodorant easy to apply?
While most natural deodorants come in a paste or gel-like form, Native deodorant is completely sold, which makes it very easy to apply because it glides effortlessly into your armpits.
The deodorant also lasts throughout the day, but if you feel the need to re-apply, doing it is easy because the formula used in the product doesn’t feel heavy and overpowering.
Another great thing about Native deodorant is its wide roster of scents that you won’t find in other natural or even synthetic deodorants.
Native has created a unique combination of scents including Lemon Zest and Pomegranate, Lilac and White Tea, and Orange and Honeysuckle that will leave you smelling fresh and clean throughout the day.
For more than $10 per stick, Native deodorant may not be the cheapest natural deodorant out there, but you definitely get what you pay for with this product.
It’s simple and straightforward, but it’s very efficient in eliminating armpit odor and stains. Native deodorant is refreshing and sweet with a hint of sophistication. Give it a try and see for yourself.
